Teacher (Elementary) – Djibouti

The International School of Djibouti is seeking teachers to work with our diverse student body of Djiboutians and expats in our school community.  We are currently hiring for 2 opportunities: 1.) Head Teacher of the Kindergarten-1st grade class – the successful candidate will take up the appointment ASAP; and 2.) Head Teachers for various classes for the 2023-2024 school year, to begin in late August.

We currently have five classes at our school: Pre-school, Kindergarten-1^{st grade,} 2^nd -3^{rd grade,} 4th-5^th grade, and 6^th–8^th grade, plus a web-based high school. Currently, we have around 90 students.  Our school has a family atmosphere that incorporates American curriculum and cultural norms with those of the local context. This year a typical class size is 16-20 students.

Candidates should have the following minimum characteristics:

• Bachelor’s degree

• 2 Solid references

• Willingness to make at least a one-year commitment

• Noble-hearted calling to a service post

Preferred characteristics:

• Two years’ experience in elementary or secondary education

• Experience with non-native English-speaking students (and ideally ESL certification)

• Certification in an American educational system

Stipend and benefits:

• $15,000 + (dependent on experience, qualifications, etc.)
