Job Description

Conversational English Teachers Needed in Hungarian Schools for Winter

The Central European Teaching Program is an all-woman organization gladly accepting men into our teaching family. Established in 1990, we are the oldest and most significant provider of ESL teachers to Hungarian schools. We accept teachers of all ages as long as health and hearing are good. All applicants MUST be native-English speakers and citizens of the US, Canada, the EU or UK, no exceptions.

CETP is seeking native-English speakers to fill one high school north of Budapest as well as a small handful of elementary vacancies—3 in Budapest and one within easy distance of the city by light rail. We do have one preschool/kindergarten available, which requires experience but no bachelor’s degree. I will be happy to provide specifics for any/all openings if you send a brief letter of introduction to [email protected], and please include your teaching resume. Let me know if you have specific preferences.

Although the on-going tragedy in Ukraine has been of concern, we don’t foresee an incursion into Hungary, and neither do the 100 CETP teachers currently teaching with us. Tens of thousands of refugees have been welcomed by Hungarians, which but increases the need for teachers.

Our teachers must have both a bachelor’s degree plus TEFL certification before arrival in Hungary.

Our program fee for winter semester is $1800 for Budapest positions, or $2500 for the year (Jan-Jan.) For non-Budapest elementary openings it is $1500 or $1900 for the year. The preschool/kindergarten is $1,000. I assure you these are NOT a placement fee. We are a full-service organization providing:

  1. All residence and work permits to live and teach in Hungary
  2. Private fully furnished apartment with utilities paid as part of your salary package
  3. Hungarian government medical coverage
  4. Several day orientation—virtual but with planned long weekend in Budapest following cold weather
  5. National Hungarian teacher’s salary
  6. 24/7 services of our experienced kind, attentive Hungarian director
  7. Hungarian income tax waived (nearly the amount of the program fee)
  8. Facebook and virtual meetings for teaching tips, travel and assurances

You may find our application on our website at www.cetp.info.
