Job Description

We are currently accepting applications for Christians who are native  English speakers with a college degree to assist the Japanese English teachers in the public junior high schools of Tamura, Japan.

1.  ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

Beginning in 1982, the Wakakusa English Program is a ministry that provides a Christian presence in the city of Tamura, Japan by sending English speakers from America into Japanese schools as English teachers and assistant English teachers. The Wakakusa English Program serves the community through its excellence in teaching, and by promoting international and cross-cultural understanding. Ultimately, Wakakusa demonstrates the love of Christ through teaching, through relationships within the Wakakusa team, and through its service to the Japanese community around us.

2.  QUALIFICATIONS

-Christian in faith and practice

-University graduate with a bachelors and/or more advanced degree

-Native English Speaker from either Canada or the US.

-Japanese language ability is not required, but is recommended.

3.  CONTRACT PERIOD

– 1 year commitment and 2 year intention beginning the end of March 2024.

– M-F @ 7:30-3:30.  Paid vacation in the winter for 2 weeks, summer 2 weeks, Spring for 1 week as well as various national holidays.

4.  COMPENSATION

-Starting salary of 300,000 yen/month   (Salary increases each year)

5.  ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

-Housing is arranged for @50,000/month covering rent, utitliies, and internet.

-Flight to and from Japan

– Renewable contract

– Part of a team of 10 other English teachers
