Job Description

Arun Language Training & Recruitment are recruiting graduates of any discipline to teach English at schools located throughout Taiwan.

Taipei, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Taichung, Keelung, PingDong and many other locations.

As of 12th September 2022, teachers can now enter Taiwan on a 90-day visit visa and convert to a work permit in country after arrival.

The Taiwan border reopened on 7th March 2022 and the first group of teachers arrived in April 2022. The quarantine period has now reduced to 3 days strict quarantine. This is followed by 4 days at the same hotel but with the ability to go outside for limited reasons such as exercise. This is followed by 7 days’ training.

As of 15th August 2022, there is no need for a negative PCR test prior to travel to Taiwan.

The cost of hotel and meals during quarantine and training is arranged and paid for by the school.

Currently, due to visa restrictions, we can only recruit candidates from the following six countries only: USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK and Ireland.

Currently, start dates are scheduled up to to mid-April 2023.

Salary & Benefits

Hourly Pay starting pay rate range of NT $620 – 660 per hour based on previous teaching qualifications Ceiling rate from NT $750 per hour to $800 per hour Teaching Duties Stipend NT $3000 per month for class preparation work – e.g. for meetings, training, class preparation, etc. First-year Contract Renewal Bonus Staff retention is an important priority. The purpose of this bonus is to encourage teachers to stay for a minimum of two years. (Contracts are for a year) NT $10,000 is paid in the 6th month of 2nd contract NT$15,000 at the end of the 24th month. Approximate monthly income depending on hours taught: 20 teaching hours per week = 55,000 NTD per month (approx. £1,415 / $1967) 25 teaching hours per week = 68,800 NTD per month (approx. £1,770 / $2460) 30 teaching hours per week = 82,560 NTD per month (approx. £2,125 / $2950) No office hours.

Guaranteed hours – guaranteed minimum of 20 teaching hours per week – the average is 26 teaching hours per week.
Training is provided prior to starting work – accommodation and meals are provided during the quarantine and training programme – total 15 days.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or US Associate Degree
Candidates with a US Associate Degree will need to have or obtain a TEFL certificate.
Those with a Bachelor’s Degree do not require a TEFL certificate.
Candidates must have a hard copy of their degree certificate.
Candidates must be able to obtain a clean national criminal background check.

The school is looking for enthusiastic and dynamic graduates with a genuine love of working with children. Candidates must be flexible to work with children of all ages. The school teaching schedule is Monday-Saturday. Saturday teaching is required. Some schools are on a 5-day week, some on a 6-day week.
