ABOUT the University of Somalia (UNISO)

The University of Somalia (UNISO), founded in 2005 by independent Somali scholars, is a private, non-profit institution recognized by the Ministry of Education. Based in Mogadishu with a branch in El-sha Biyaha, UNISO is co-educational, non-political, and non-sectarian. It aims to provide high-quality, relevant education that equips students with the skills and values needed for the 21st century.

UNISO has partnered with educational consultancy, Ednastics, to launch the UNISO English Center, which provides high-standards English training to support learners to enhance communication skills that are crucial for academic and career success.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in English, TESOL or a related field.
• Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in TESOL (Masters preferred).

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Previous classroom teaching experience and a high degree of digital literacy.
• The ability and desire to work with language learners, showing empathy and awareness of challenges and knowledge of curricular objectives and developing curriculum responsive to the needs of Somali students.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, positive attitude, a kind regard for others, and a good sense of humor.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Full Time: 40 hours per week (24 instructional hours and 16 office hours for meetings, PD, student support, marking and prep time).
